PROPAGANDA! An exhibition focused on the power and historical influence of propaganda. The show is Friday, October 6 from 7:00 - 11:00PM at Facet Gallery and features thirty-eight new and original works of art created as propaganda for our modern times.
PROPAGANDA! is providing a much needed platform for Atlanta artists and designers to “spread ideas, information or rumor for the purpose of helping or hindering an institution, a cause or a person” without restrictions. Each participant will exhibit an 18 x 24” poster exploring various political, social and emotional ideas through propaganda.
“Historically, it’s the artists, academics and the activists who are among the first to find creative ways to speak truth to power,” said Kristy Gomez, co-founder of SOAP Goods Creative. “Turning to Atlanta’s creative community to hear their voices at this time in our country is inspiring. Unsurprisingly, we’ve got a lot to say.”
In addition, the PROPAGANDA! Soap Box will activate intermittently throughout the evening featuring “town square” style propaganda by activists, artists, academics and musicians.
"We deal with propaganda from every angle these days. Whether it's politicians or corporations, we've grown used to feeling manipulated,” said Peter Ferrari, co-owner of Facet Gallery in Old Fourth Ward. “This show is bound to shed light on this common dilemma."
